Just a quick post, because I'm off to go sailing with my dad.

Anyway, my life is officially complete. I die.

I have been pining over this belt (yes. it's the real deal EEEEEEEPPPP) for a couple years and I finally found it in a tiny, itty bitty vintage store. Even the finding of a vintage store in Singapore is something of a treasure in itself; there are like none.

I've been wearing the belt proudly, changing my outfit every ten minutes or so, and experimenting different ways to wear it. Definetely bringing it with me to london, which is in t-minus seven days! Gotta get to a packin'!

I struck gold when I found this skirt. Literally!

It was hiding in a sale pile of sweaters at Zara in Ion Orchard. Almost broke into tears when I had to go meet a friend and part with this work of art. So, I hid it. Yes, I am one of those people. But, don't lie, you'd hide this skirt too if you found it on sale in just your size! An hour later I ran to my hiding spot and brought it by the counter.

I walked out of that store with my golden ticket.

Anyway, these were the last photos taken on the last day of my stay in the Maldives. It's back to work work work.
But in a couple weeks I'm off to London for a week or so! It's my first time, too! Well, technically I went when I was a baby, but I was too little too remember. So, it'll be my second time but the first time that I'll remember. I've got some serious shopping to do, any suggestions from Londoners out there on what to bring? Coming from a girl whose lived in Singapore her whole life, SOS!

After the world tour - Morocco, Paris, Norway - we went back home to Singapore. BUT, to my surprise, there was another holiday. Who can complain, right?

Happy Chinese New Year!

This is the first year since freshmen year that I am actually with my family , and guess where we are...

The Four Seasons in the Maldives. Just the sun, the sand, and the fish. It'll be a relaxing four day weekend by the pool sipping a delicious, ice cold virgin Margarita.

We're actually going snorkeling later, so I'll be able to spot some sting rays, sharks, parrot fish, and other sea folk. Crossing my fingers!

If there are no fish, I might just laze away my day in the private serenity pool. Boy do I love it here.

I was a regular Julia Child today in the french bakery, not as clumsy but I could definitely give her a run for her money. Isabella, my little sister, and I learned how to bake apple and chocolate tarts in a real bakery by a real french chef. We made a gazillion of them and ended up with two boxes full. We also got the recipe, because my oh my oh my are these tarts good.

In the same day, I went with my mother to visit Parsons and my whole family did a Gothic Art and Architecture tour with a lovely english woman. It was great, I got to see many pieces that are in my Art History Textbook. I felt like such a genius. The guide brought us to one of the most famous gothic churches, Notre Dame, and told us the story of Quasimodo, the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

It was a busy, busy day. So, when I got home I snuggled up in my best overalls, climbed into an armchair, read my book, and snacked on the delicious tarts. It's the most amazing book by the way, called Ender's Game. It's like the original Hunger Games, except about a boy of the age of six named Ender Wiggin. Ender, a child, is sent up into space to be prepped for a war against the Buggers - the enemy - and is put through rigorous tests that challenges his mentality, strength, and intelligence. It's amazing. I suggest you go get a copy right. this. second.

Here we are in Disneyland Paris! We've met the whole Mickey Mouse gang and gone on all the best rides - Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan's Flight, Buzz Lightyear, Big Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain. I've also had fun translating the rides and asking for directions around the park in french for my parents and sister.

We've had three nights at Disney and we enjoyed every minute of it!

We arrived at night the first day, but just in time for dinner on Main Street, play with our food, and watch the parade. Isabella was waving her little hand so much when the princesses came rolling around. You should have seen her face, it was like Christmas all over again.

The second and third day we bounced around Disneyland, rode every ride, played Ninja, and got signatures from as many characters as we could.

To commemorate such a glorious and fun visit my sister and I got matching hats. We couldn't resist. Nor could we resist the pirate swords that were hanging on the shelf near them. I totally didn't play sword fight with Isabella, my little sister, while my mom paid for the hats. What would ever give you that idea?

We are big Disney Dorks and proud of it. Disney Dork salute!

Rocking the Kasbah

It is truly an adventure in the streets of Morocco. And what I've found is that the best food comes off the street, yummy hot bread to be exact. Every bread maker we've run into has probably been the best bread that I have ever had, and that means something. I'm quite the bread connoisseur. If you ever get the chance to go to Morocco, definitely invest in some food.
Besides the food, we've visited some of the most beautiful kasbahs, riads, and restaurants. I practiced my french everywhere we go. The best of which is probably in the desert. We took a helicopter out to the desert to eat at a restaurant that had a picturesque view of the sand dunes. The servers there taught me french and offered so kindly to let me stay till the night, to sit around the fire, dance, and talk. Unfortunately, I had to decline.
Hopefully, the french that I learned on this trip will help me in Paris, France. All that really matters though is that I can order crepes and hot chocolate off the street. C'est très important.

PS. I learned how to belly dance from a real professional moroccan belly dancer. I would make a gif of it, but it would blind you with its perfection. Pfffttttttt...I could totes be hired as a mediocre belly dancer....ppfffftttttt. 1. 2. 3. 4!

You do not even know how cold it is in the mountains! It was like -20 on some days! But hey, we roughed it. We are vikings, we can handle anything!

In this New Year, I've decided to handle school, friends, family, grades, getting lost, making mistakes as a viking. I can handle anything this year. My clean slate.

For the past week I've been up in the Norwegian Mountains with the trolls in our family's hytte. Skiing, baking, reading, and attempts at making snowmen were regular activities, as well as spending time with my father's side of the family. There was a party for my grandmother's 80th birthday in Bergen where I got to meet some extended family and got to see my very good cousins, uncles, and aunts.
We spent Christmas up in the hytte. I became quite the little fire bug, thanks to some very good camp skills I learned over the summer. I even adopted the name 'Askeladden'! My job was to build fires, help make s'mores (can never get enough of those) and hot dogs, and to burn wrapping paper on Christmas day.
These AMAZING Doc Marten's were a gift from my mother and father on Christmas and oh my gosh. They are fantastic. There are also some tall, black, lace up ones that are waiting for me back home in Singapore. I will brave heat stroke and sweat to wear both of those bad boys in Singapore. Eeeeeeeek I'M SO EXCITED! Doc Marten's will always be a trend that I support and love and will treasure forever and ever and ever :)
Right now, I shall go and eat my yummy sea bass for dinner and another post will be up in a few days. It is signed and sealed with a kiss.

One of the most important accessories any women can own is a purse. Whether it be big or small, boho or fashion forward, leather or pleather, a purse is a staple piece that all fashionable, globe trotting women should own.

What a fashion savvy Vogue enthusiast should always make sure is to have 3:1 ratio. By this I mean, for every four purses, three should be classic (a Kelly by Hermes or a classic Louis Vuitton) and one may be wild (zebra print, ostrich leather, etc.)

The first photo is of my Constance purse by Hermes and the second is of the limited edition Disney purses. The last is one my Louis Vuitton. They are all a dream. All three are durable, perfect size wise, and need I mention adorable? I think not. What does your 3:1 ratio consist of?

Good morning KL!

Yes sir. I'm a short five hour drive away from Singapore, across the Causeway and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Thanksgiving weekend. I've been swimming in the Shangri La Hotel pool, painting and watching Hayao Miyazaki films with my little sister the whole weekend. My personal favorite would have to be Howl's Moving Castle, but the book is definitely better.

I hope all is well with all 404 of you! Did you all have an amazing Thanksgiving with mouthwatering turkey and stuffing, buttery crescent rolls, mac & cheese, green beans, and jell-o? My family is having our feast on Sunday because we're out of town and I'm joining my friend, Alistair, on Saturday for his. I'm going to bring a chocolate pie. My absolute favorite desert.

Hello sunshine!
I've had the best few weeks. I spent my Halloween weekend in Indonesia at a place called Telunas where I spent the halcyon days laughing with fellow art geeks, painting, drawing, and swimming to my hearts content. Bliss.
The last weekend I spent my days with friends shopping and eating and catching up. At the same time I went to the fabulous Titanic Exhibit at the ArtScience Museum. It was amazing to say the least. They had remakes of the first class and third class rooms, the boiler room and so many other iconic spots. It was like you were actually on the Titanic! It was a great exhibition and if you live in Singapore, please make sure you go. It's great.
And finally today, I'm just finishing up two history papers and watching Suburgatory. Have an amazing rest of the week everyone :)

Good evening, sunshines. The Earth says, "Hello!" I've been totally and completely busy for the first quarter of school and have very much been missing you all and blogging ):
But hey look at that! Outfit post!
I went shopping with my friends today - Ebony, Alexis, and Ayesha - and that was quite the time let me tell you right now. We stopped by TWG Tea Place in Ion and then went to a bookstore and chilled there for an hour or so and read magazines and children's books.
School has been pretty decent. I signed up for my interim and guess who's going to London in February? ME! Annika. That's who. I'm already trying to decide what to wear. Any suggestions my loves? Alexis will be joining me in London and we are going to have a jolly good time old chap. Look out, London. Annika and Alexis are coming your way!

My cameras lens has been in the repair shop since I've been home from camp.

I can't hide my bitten nails. I think they're a good addition to any outfit. Don't you think? haha

Now. Let's be honest here. I've never been a big romper fan. But when I came across this one and I almost died. The floppiness. The silkiness. The cinching. IT WAS PERFECT! I had to get it. So, I take back any bad thing I've said about rompers. What's not to like about an outfit including only one article of clothing and no matching necessary AT ALL!? Whoever made them up is a genius. A genius I tell you!

By the time you read this I'll be at camp. Sitting in an open air canvas tent with four beds and four trunks, surrounded by friends and counselors, and playing cards with my tent-mates laughing, talking, and simply having the best time of our lives. Camp is my home. My favorite place in the world. The only place in the world where being you is ok. You can act like a complete goofball, do anything, say anything, be anything and everyone will still like you.

There is nothing you can't do.

But don't worry, there will still be weekly posts :) Stay tuned.

Oh late bloomer, the rumors are true

I have arrived in Martha's Vineyard! The spaceship has landed! I repeat the spaceship has landed. It feels nice to be home again in good ol' Massachusetts (GO BRUINS! First win in what? 39 years?! YESSSS). My sister and I have been playing RockBand non-stop since we got here; we don't have it in Singapore. And let me tell you, that was time well spent. What I am looking forward to the most though is....drum roll please...Mad. Martha's. Ice. Cream. Yes. If you have ever gone to the Vineyard, you should know about this infamous ice cream store. It is the best ice cream store in the world. And I am soon going to have the delicious calorie filled snack in my tummy in less than 24 hours. If I don't there will be some serious problems up in hur.
It smells like summer.
Today, I just wanted to test run these beautiful bloomers. So, I kept it simple and colour blocked. It's a little plain, but I like it.
Go treat yourself to some ice-cream :)

Grand Prismatic Spring.

Yeehaww! Currently, I'm in Jackson Hole and todays adventure included visiting Yellowstone National Park and watching Old Faithful erupt and seeing the beautiful Grand Prismatic Spring. If any of you get the chance to go to Yellowstone, please make sure to go to the Grand Prismatic Spring. It's this gorgeous, gorgeous hot spring that has so many colours (caused by bacteria) all around and in it. When it's sunny, the steam being released by the hot spring reflects the colours in the pool, making it look like pink and/or blue cotton candy.
Also, during the car ride to and from we saw a whole herd of bison, a moose, some Elk, and some Rangers taking a group picture. Adorable.
My little sister also got her 6th Junior Ranger Badge. If you have a sibling who's done this or if you have PLEASE let me know! My little sister would be thrilled to know somebody else did it, too.
It has also been really cold compared to the kind of summer I'm used to, but it's real nice. It's also the reason for my non-posting because I came ill-prepared for this type of weather haha. Let's just say short shorts and Hawaiian t-shirts can only last you for so long.
But soon, it'll be slightly warmer because we are going to Denver, Colorado tomorrow. WOOOOOOOO!!!!! I'm lovin' it.

Walking stick, bag, and hat.

After a VERY long drive through Vegas and the Mojave Desert, we finally arrived at the Amangiri! It's a wonderful hotel that is about a 3 hour drive away from the Grand Canyon, and. Oh. My. Gosh. Could it be any more amazing? The view and rooms are spectacular. The service is so sweet. The food is beyond tasty (and organic!).
Also, the activities they had here are wonderful. We've seen and done the coolest things, too! We've dug for fossils. We've hiked and seen petrogliphs . We've taken a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.
According to one of our guides, a person actually requested a tour through Walmart. We thought we could skip that.
All in all, this hotel is perfect.

Today, we're heading over to Bryce Canyon and road tripping it over to Salt Lake City to watch the choir. My mom really wants to. I'm pretty excited, too! But I'm excited for the drive and the road trip food. Cheetos and Taco Bell. Yum.

I haven't been able to take any pictures of a good outfit because my family has been sick and jet lagged for the past 4 days. Kind of not so fun, but be patient. It will come soon.

Just chillin' in the crowd.

It's funny how close Disney is to me. I go every year at least once and my little sister plays their movies on repeat, and I dunno. There's something about Disneyland and their films that just makes it feel really special.
I've got to say, my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. I'm a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, too. Have you seen the last one?! SO GOOD! And apparently they are coming out with a Cars and a Monsters Inc. sequel. I dunno about you guys but I am super excited.
Bref, today was my Disney Day and ohmygosh. So much fun. We had a VP tour, I think that's what it's called, and Janice (our tour guide) took us all around Disney. She talked to us about the history at the park and what rides were the best and where we should go at what times. Also, she got us in the FastPass way to ALL the rides! We were there from 8 am till 2 pm bouncing/dancing/running from ride to ride. It was a good day.
Tomorrow we are on the road.

My exams are O. V. E. R! I am done with sophomore year! Well, not technically...technically I have a Studio Art exam, a French test, and an Emerging Computer Technologies (Tech) Exam too. BUT those don't really count : )
I wasn't able to go to the little black dress exhibit yesterday, but instead my friends and I decided to get henna tattoos down in Little India. My friend, Alexis, and I both got scorpion henna and Laken got flower designs on her hands and feet. We strutted down the street like nobodies business when we were done. Yes, we are that cool. After strutting, we felt like we should let everyone's eye's rest after seeing such pure awesomeness radiating walking down the street, so we left and ate dinner at Chille's. Om nom nom.
Anyway, I wasn't able to go to the little black dress exhibit yesterday, but I promised an outfit post. I love these shoes. So much.
I will get to that exhibit before it closes though. I will.
It's getting really late where I am so goodnight my lovelies : )

As you may possibly have noticed. I've been shopping quite a bit lately.

And here are a few of the spoils from my recent trips.

The soles of these shoes and the oxfords below make me swoon. I'm loving the "tread sole" for Spring!

Yes, I realize that some of the shoes are out of season. But, to be frank, I really don't care because all of these shoes just make me smile. I've been walking around my house wearing a different pair each day, alternating pairs of course.
But here's the deal. I am going to this exhibition that I read about in Designaré Magazine at the National Museum of Singapore called the Beauty in Black. It's showcasing 18 different versions of the iconic little black dress, featuring designs by Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, and Cristóbel Balenciaga. I thought it sounded REALLY cool.
And I, being the weird person that I am, am trying to decide in advance which one of these shoes to wear! I can't seem to choose between the four.
So, here's my question to you:
Which pair of shoes should I wear? Which ones are your favorites?

I went shooooppppiiinnngggg!

After much talk of amazing, vintage shopping and quirky styles at Haji Lane, my friend, Kiran, and I decided it was time to investigate. We spent two hours and thirty minutes shop-hopping down a 100 meter long street. We touched the fabric, feeling the soft fabric between our fingers. Our eyes flickered from one sequined skirt to another, watching the light dance. But we could barely contain ourselves when we saw these beautiful babies and Miu Miu shoes in a store window. Naturally, I couldn't walk away without buying them. Kiran walked away with these fantastic blue shoes with a pink flower print. They're really, really cute.

Happy belated Mother's Day!
Yesterday was quite amusing. My mother decided to go to the ArtScience Museum to see the Van Gogh and the sunken ship exhibits. It was actually REALLY cool. I've never been a fan of Van Gogh, he's just not my cup of tea, but I didn't mind him in this exhibit. They didn't have any of his paintings in front of you in this museum, instead they had projectors that blew up paintings, pictures of his life, and letters to be massive on the walls. There was very calming music playing in the background which just added to the atmosphere and made you feel like you were in the paintings. My little sister was jumping from each wall to pretend she was rowing a boat or sitting in a chair.
The sunken ship exhibit was just chock full of artifacts from a sunken ship: pottery, plates, games, dice, gold, you name it and they had it (barnacles included). But the BEST part was there were these stampers and it would stamp pictures of sea monsters and dancers and fish onto paper. In my opinion, that was the best thing all day.
I am a fan of the stamps. Who wouldn't be? Don't judge me! D:
We finished the day of with french fries and hamburgers from Kraze Burgers. Mmmmm yum! So, all in all, it was a great day! Happy Mother's Day, Mommy! I hope you had a good day, too.

Well hello!

VINTAGE. LETTERMAN. JACKET!

Does that make you excited or what?! Or is that just me?

...I'm going to pretend that it's not just me. But, GAH! I was practically jumping out of my skin when I found this in a little vintage store in Hong Kong.

There are no words.

My life has been quite the school oriented mess. I have exams in a few weeks and I will need to study, study, study! But I have this one really adorable exam for Studio Art; we are making children's books. We are meant to illustrate and write our own personal stories in a way that little kid's can understand ie. animals, simple wording, etc. My story is about an armadillo.

Once upon a time there was an armadillo, but you see, this armadillo was afraid. He was afraid of the world around him. He was afraid of what animals would say about him, about what animals would do, about what they would think of him.

So he hid in his shell.

He hid, away from the world and shut everyone out. He hid for days, then months, then years. Soon, nobody remembered the poor armadillo and acted as if he never existed.

But, after those many years, a hermit crab scuttled up to where the armadillo was hiding and knocked. *knock knock knock* "Hellloooooo, anybody home?"

No reply.

*knock knock knock* "Why are you hiding from me!"

The armadillo poked out his head and timidly said "I...I'm scared..."

Then the hermit crab laughed. He laughed and said "Why are you afraid? Come on boy, get out of your shell. Look at the world around you! Look at the tree's, look at the sky, look at the bushes! Why would you spend your whole life hiding when you have all this to explore!"

The hermit crab told the armadillo of it's adventures around the world. He had gone to Paris and eaten crepes. He had tea and crumpets with the queen. He went to china and ate with chopsticks.

Once he had finished, the hermit crab held out his hand and nodded for the armadillo to hold it.

As unsure as the armadillo was, he took it.

He uncoiled himself and showed his face for the first time in years. He stretched his legs out, he straightened his back, he stood up.

And took his first steps into the big, wide world.

I found overalls! Full length overalls!

I was just recently in Hong Kong over the weekend! Quite the fun time.
We went to the Ladies Market, Stanley Market, and Disneyland. And let me tell you, I have bought the coolest things ever! One of which is a vintage letterman jacket, which you will be seeing a lot of soon. We also ate delicious bao and rice and spring rolls. Mmmm mmmm mmm. There were these delicious sesame buns with custard, if any of you know what I'm talking about let me know what the name of it is because I am definitely going to need dozens of boxes of them!
How was everyone else's weekend and labour day? I'll post some pictures in the future about disneyland...for now I need to study for my Algebra II/Trigonometry test.

Hands. Down. Gah. I wish I got a better picture of him!

Because I'm not an upperclassmen my friends and I worked the ticket stand, still SO MUCH FUN!

So, yesterday was my prom! Well technically not my prom, but I went and worked at prom. I was able to party it up between shifts though. I had a blast! As you can see I decided to wear the gold dress with feathers instead of the black one. They were both beautiful, but I felt like the gold one was a little more elegant and still had a good balance between fun and unpredictable. I loved how the other dress was a little more edgy, but I didn't think I should wear it to prom. I will definitely figure out a way to wear it somewhere else, you just wait and see ;) Hmmm...maybe an oversized suit jacket and some grunge boots...hmmm...

I hope everyone had an amazing prom, and HAPPY EASTER!

Hey everyone! I'm in Dubai! I'm off to swim with dolphins today, which I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty excited about.
This was my outfit from yesterday for going out to dinner. I thought I would try my hand at the spring trend of wearing neon for once. Because, if you haven't noticed, I don't wear colour very much. It's hard to wear colour, but I'll try this spring!

Please avoid looking at my chub...
I saw this dress at Far East and I couldn't believe it, it looked almost exactly like the Alexander Wang sweater dress (click the link for a better look at the dress). I almost died. I grabbed it off the rack, payed my dues and pretty much skipped to the taxi stand with my cousin with an ear-to-ear smile. Ever since, I've been wanting to show it to you guys!
And must I go into detail about these shoes? They are from Japan. 'Nough said.
I actually had to edit them a bit; I had to hack off the back heel of the boot so it would slide onto my foot more comfortably. Darn high arches, but, oddly enough, I like them better this way.

Celebrating at school with my friend, David.

It's my birthday. And I can cry if I want to.
Today, was amazing. My friends made me so happy. I was practically brought to tears when Isabella brought me waffles that reminded me of camp. I know it may sound stupid to cry over waffles, but you would understand if you went to my camp. Also, my best friend lorraine gave me a beautiful little bracelet. But I have to say, my favorite presents are always the cards. They are so much more personal and so much better than an item. Whenever I read one, I just can't stop smiling. It's something that comes from the heart and only they can give me, that's why I love them.
I just want to thank every one of my friends for being so kind and sweet to me on my birthday. You all make me so happy, beyond words can say. You guys are the best friends I could ever have.

At home we had cake and presents. And guess what I got? Go ahead.
A POLAROID CAMERA. Yes, world. Annika got a polaroid camera and I am ready to snap some delicious polaroids with my new TRIPOD. It's pretty exciting. But yes, now I'm waiting for my last gift from my little sister. She's going to read a book to me as her present.

On one of the last days we did an "Amazing Race" around Kyoto! We went to temples, teahouses, abandoned roads, learned how to take the bus, and had many laughs.

I don't know the real name for these, but let's just call them Wish Blocks.

this brings tears to my eyes, i miss it.

I didn't feel like editing these because I love them too much as they are to change them. Now that I'm posting so much about Japan, I wish I was there. Everyone was so kind to me and everyone was so happy. Especially my host family, they were the sweetest people I have ever met. I was there for two nights and had one full day with them. The photos above are from that day.

We went to the Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima. So. Much. Fun. There were deer running around and I got to pet some of them, but the kids in my host family were scared of them. I thought they were cute. They showed me around after I flipped out about the deer. They showed me all the wishes and fortunes that were tied everywhere. They showed me where to make wishes. They showed me all kinds of delicious food (there were these delicious pancakes stuffed with almond paste, and, ohmygod, they were amazing). I also tried oysters for the first time! Granted they were fried, but it doesn't change the fact that I tried them and liked them (for those of you who don't know me very well, I'm a VERY picky eater). We went shopping after we went to the shrine. THE MALL WAS HUGE! It had the best stuff!!! I wish I had a body suit that could make me fit everything and that I had all the money in the world. Why does Japan have to be so expensive?

Japanjapanjapan. I miss you.

Quick post today, I have quite a bit of homework.

We went to the one place in Japan where they sell black eggs. On a volcano that is still active. But it's not dangerous. There were little sulfur ponds all over it, and what the Japanese do is cook eggs in the water (it's not bad for you because you peel off the shell). According to the Japanese, they actually add 7 years to your life, but if you have more than 3 then it lessens it. No greediness allowed.

To get to the volcano we took a ride on a big pirate ship. There were statues of pirates and a random guy in a pirate costume taking pictures; it was cute. We could see Mount. Fuji from the ship! I was flipping out! But I couldn't get a good enough picture. It snowed, though! A little, little bit. So I pulled out my poncho/blanket from Zara, hung out with my friends, watched the snow fall, and listened to the waves of the lake. It was beautiful.

I'm home! Japan was fantastic. You can expect four more posts just going over my amazing week there, with little outfit posts of what I wore that day.

We went to a school. It was an all girls school, and, this being a co-ed trip, the boys were all excited. They soon found out all the girls that we met at the school had boyfriends XD Which wasn't surprising cause they were all gorgeous and nice. One girl gave me a StickyPic of her and her friend. I stuck it in my wallet. The girls were so excited to know that we all had facebooks, so they all whipped out their little booklets and pens in unison and asked us for our names. But really they were adorable. This one girl helped me write calligraphy and my name in characters. I was so scared to do the finals for calligraphy, like on a final sheet of paper, because if you messed up you couldn't go back. Ohmygosh. Scariest few seconds of my life.

It was the funniest thing though, my teacher was giving the principal and the girls who hung out with us presents as a thank you. And he takes out this cheesy mug with our little school logo and goes "and we have a cup..." and the girls all go "OOOHHHHHH OOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" and start clapping. Now my friend and I do the japanese "ohh" noise and start clapping whenever we like something. We think we're funny.

Sorry if that sounded boring, it was actually so much fun. We made so many friends and it was cool to see the differences and similarities between my school and theirs. Did you know Japanese students actually clean their own school? I'd die.

Today was the PEP RALLY! Sophomore Council successfully joined forces with the Frosh and started a war against the Seniors and Juniors. It'll be legendary. Always good.

Also, clothing is very much Isabella's doing as of recent. Thanks Lala. I really love this shirt haha. It belongs to her and her dad, actually. At the time the shorts I had planned to wear with it were in the wash, and I had to settle for these. I'm sorry it's not fantastic.

Sorry for my rather lack luster/moody posts recently. I haven't been in the greatest mood these past couple weeks, kinda stressed and a little annoyed/mad. I guess I brought it upon myself though, so I shouldn't complain. All of this resulted in me not really having very much inspiration, hence the not so exciting outfits. So, I have all my magazines and books out to be my guide when I go shopping with Laken and Ebony on Saturday. Just to help me get my creative juices flowing, to splurge, and to get ready for my trip to Japan (leaving in a week). Yay! The cold! hopefully that'll brighten my rather bleak mood at the moment. Wink ;) Goodmorning! I am on a roll! Actually doing what I say I'll do!

Yesterday, Laken and Ebony came over. They are both in the same photography class and needed to take pictures. So, what better time to take pictures for this blog? Multi tasking. We ended up in an abandoned house (now a car park) near to where I live. They were both scaredy cats when we went to explore it, because there were a bunch of stains on the walls and chains, but I thought it was too cool. There's something about old houses that just intrigues me, I think it's the thought that somebody once lived in them. Thinking about what they did in each room. Thinking about who they were, where they were from. It's for the same reason I love vintage clothes, I mean sure they are cute. Can't deny that, but it's fun to put stories to the clothes.

Yes. Now I need to finish my homework, and get some Student Council work done. Fare the well and have a greaaaatt weekend :)

My god Rachael Hyde. I have no clue how you do it, I really don't.

So, I told you I'd show you more pictures of the military and/or band jacket! And I did!!! Ah. I'm so proud of myself haha.

Off to a more complete paragraph.

Today, after she went to church, Rae Rae came over, this was after like months of trying to get each others schedules right -.- But let me tell you, it was totally worth it. We took a bunch of photos (two separate shoots), goofed around, ate Easy Mac (gift from God), and TONS of bread. Mmmmm bread. After that, Rach had to go do homework. Lame. Hahaha so, I went to AnchorPoint with Lala and we did the usual: go to 7/11, get whatever we are in the mood for, go down the escalators and get Bubble Tea, and finally end up in CottonOn where we buy useless, yet amazing, items of whatever is there. It was her birthday on Saturday and she is now 16! Happy Birthday, Lala. I would write more but Laken is being annoying and checking my blog every second, so I need to post sometime soon. She also would like to say "hello" to the world.

Good evening! School started on Monday and I'm so excited! Student Council has some great things planned, there's a pep-rally soon, we're starting figure drawing in Studio Art, in Algebra II/Trig we're doing graphing, and today was Free Dress Day. All in all, school is not too shabby.
I wasn't able to take a full body picture of my outfit because there really isn't anybody to help me with that at home at the moment, so my friend Laken actually helped me out at school and took a quick snapshot (check her flickr out HERE). So, this is just a little preview of what is to come. Be excited, it's an amazing jacket that my mother and I bought in Germany a couple days before we went on the plane home.
A bunch of my friends said I looked like a person who belonged in a marching band, but I would have to say this reminds me a ton more of Michael Jackson. Remember, his sequined red military jacket and sparkly glove? That's what this reminded me of, and proud of it. Now where can I find some sequined gloves to channel my inner Jackson?

An Austrian went yodeling...

Yodel-a-hee-hoo! I'm in Austria my friends. With them lil ole Austrians, with them hats. We drove from Budapest to Austria, and in true Hvide fashion something went wrong. So, we were driving out of Mcdo, just innocently eating our bucket loads of fries and nuggets, when suddenly we hear a rattling noise coming from the back of the car. So, we stop at the side of the road and my brother and dad walk out and check it out. It turns out the cars back tire and hubcap fell off. Just fix it, easy enough right? Well, apparently not. Apparently the rental car place forgot to give us repair tools and an extra tire sooooooo we were stuck sitting on the side of the road. A sad poor little orphaned family, abandoned on the highway. When suddenly a tow truck came and rescued us, our knight in shining armor if you will. He towed us to safety (his garage), we were actually still in the car when he put our car on that little back platform, IT WAS SO COOL, and fixed our tire. And we were off. Off to Austria, crisis averted. We're skiing at the moment, and I could not be having more fun! I put so many layers on, I was sweating hahhaha. I could barely put my arms down, I felt like that kid in A Christmas Story. But it was worth it for the snow. We also visited a children's museum, an egyptian museum, and a castle where they kept Dracula imprisoned. Quite cool, or shall I say cold? Hur hur hur, my bad jokes could not be any more fantastic XD

1. Get healthier (start jogging again, I haven't been able to because I've been majorly sick the whole semester)

2. Bring lunch to school everyday, thus save money

3. Build up my closet, bring it up to date and clear out the old and ill-fitting

Today was a train day, so I decided to opt for something with a little layers. This did not end well during the small photo session with my sister, because long story short it was -3 degrees celsius. At one point a jogger gave me a weird look in the cold weather without my coat on, also somebody else gave us a weird look when I snuggled Brit's hood to warm my face and nose. I pretended that it was not a look of those-people-are-really-weird-and-belong-in-a-mental-institution but a look that said that-is-one-cold-brave-soul-who-loves-her-sister.
Yes, I went on the train for 6 hours which was actually pretty fun. I finished the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom (read it), played that word game on my fathers kindle, and then watched Star Trek with my mother and brother. Also, I ate. A lot. I can't pass up the food trolley, and the chocolate. Ohhhh the chocolate. Why did somebody have to invent chocolate? Anyway, I am now in Budapest! Good-bye Prague, hello Budapest! Much will be said later about that at a later date, but for now, I need sleep. Traveling always makes me so tired...even though the majority of what I do is eat...and sit...and occasionally get up to walk around the cart hallway.

Here I am. In the Paris of Eastern Europe. One of the most beautiful places in Europe, and the name holds true. I've been here only a day and I am already in love. It's also so weird how it gets dark so fast! I feel silly saying that, but hey! I live in Singapore. Same weather and light patterns all year round! What I can never understand is daylight savings time, but I won't get started on that.

Well hmmmm...we're going to the Opera in a couple days. I'm actually quite excited. How does one dress for the Opera? Mental note: google it.

Ok...now I don't know what to say because jet lag is starting to creep in. Thanks to all you 55 readers and all your sweet comments. It makes me so happy. See you all soon! Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! I had the best day. To start it off my friend, who's in the states at the moment, called me at midnight (Singapore time) and then 7 hours later, my little sister comes into my room saying "ANNIKAAAAAA!!!!!! WAKE UP! EVERYONE'S AWAAAKEEE!!!". To my surprise everyone was awake, for the first time in....forever my brother, my sisters, and my dad was awake before me. I eventually got up to watch my dad make hot cocoa downstairs, then proceeded to tell my little sister to wake up my mother. Once everyone was up it was time for presents!!! I got some really awesome presents, one of which includes Photoshop! My CD drive in my computer is being funky though, so I need to bring it into to the Apple Store and then I'll be good to go. But for now, I will have to be satisfied with iPhoto, alas. As the day went on, the house started to smell more and more like Christmas Ham. Dinner was delicious, thanks Mommy, and the chocolate pie for dessert was even better. All around a great Christmas.

I was in a good mood today, so I felt like some contrasting patterns were the way to go (especially some with red and green). Tomorrow I'm heading off to Munich, and can't wait for the cold. I have a Russian hat just sitting in my room collecting dust and screaming "PUT ME ON YOUR HEAD!!!", so I'm glad it's wishes will finally come true.

Mid-terms start on Monday. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. But winter break starts next Friday! Same with Yule Ball! Gosh. I'm so excited. I love school dances, they aren't a big thing at my school though. A lot of people think it's super lame, but I think the opposite. To quote my friend Chelsea "I LOVE SCHOOL FUNCTIONS!". Seems appropriate, being on Student Council and all hahaha.

Today was free dress day, every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, and I wore this shirt. Not going to lie, coolest shirt ever. I admit, it is a crop top and I know I am completely against those like no other, but it's not technically a crop top! My belly button doesn't show....when my arms are down.... How can you deny a shirt with a print of Marilyn Monroe on it? Come on?

You see, my mother has been on this ongoing quest to find the perfect ornament, tree, and christmas tree skirt. This year she thought she found the right skirt, but....

My mother, sister, and I were hanging our ornaments on the tree and I ask my mom if I could put the skirt around the tree. She takes out this one (above) and says "It's from Pottery Barn....but....but....IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!! It was an accident!!" She turns the skirt around and shows us the writing on it. "WHO ARE THE JURELLERS?!"

In case you were wondering, our last name is Hvide NOT Jureller. We all burst out laughing.

It is currently sitting under our tree and my mother and I are waiting for my dad to notice.

He hasn't yet.

It's been almost 3 hours.

Ni hao! Well, hello everybody. I am currently in Taiwan for Thanksgiving break, the home of one of my very best friends, Chelsea. Also, sorry for the sudden bombardment of photos, I took them all today and I still have tons more to show you! I will do a second post soon :) You'll love the way people dress here in Taiwan, it's a bit japanese in the way that they layer, and I have tons of stalker pictures of their clothes to show you guys. But for now, I will show you my goofy family photos.

So far, we've gone to a museum, shopping, to a 1980's-replica-of-a-street movie set, to a temple, and eaten and walked A LOT. Our feet have been sore almost every day, and my mother bought me the BEST things for Christmas. But I can't use any of it yet because they are my Christmas presents, which is kind of frustrating. Patience is a virtue. Hmmm...OH! At the museum, I was entertaining my little sister with games like Chopsticks and Redhands when this tour group comes with a bunch of old ladies. The ladies come up to us and start speaking to us in chinese and we're like "............ni hao.............." and for some odd reason they thought we were russian and said DAS VEE DANYA! My little sister looked at me like *who are these crazy people and why are they touching my head?*. I was quite amused.

It's all been so cool, and I've heard that Taipei isn't supposed to be the most beautiful. But I would have to disagree. It's awesome. I love the hustle and bustle of the city, and how the streets are lined with trees, it reminds me of Singapore.

Anyway, I hope you all had an AMAZING Thanksgiving!

Haha whenever you give my dad and me a camera this is the result. We are a good pair.

My father and I agreed that we both wanted to know what the insides of our noses looked like. This is how we did it. Aren't we clever?

Well, this was a really fun shoot. It lasted 10 minutes 'cause my dad and I were goofing off and taking pictures of no relevancy. Then, when we were taking pictures for this, my father would yell "ATTITUDE ANNIKA!". He kind of reminded me of Tyra Banks, the only thing he forgot to say was "SMIES!!!". It really was fun and we finally got golden hour! Gah. I've been trying for the past week to get it, and my persistence paid off. Ohhhh yaaaa.
I'm in New Zealand for another day or two but I'm leaving on the 19th, just in time to get back to my hectic life of English essays, Trig tests, History of Japan pop quizzes, and Chemistry labs. Goody! But for now, I'm enjoying my last couple days of cold weather and sheep. I'm sorry for mentioning those sheep so much, but they are so cute!! I saw some pink ones the other day, it was....weird XD Very strange.

so yes. just to clarify again. that is orange juice and water. i am only 14. do not fear. haha.

my sister took these photos (kudos to her epic photo skills) in hawaii over winter break. the weather there was perfect. it was windy and hot but not humid like it is here. and the house we were at was right next to the beach. perfectly perfect in every way. i miss it.

oh my oh my. my birthday is in 11 days! i am so excited! 15 is a pretty big number...half way to 30. oh gosh.
